What we Believe

The mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, but every faith community defines the term “disciple” a little bit differently. At Christ United, we believe a disciple is someone who follows Jesus by acting inclusively, serving others, doing justice, and seeking God. We think this message of inclusion and community involvement is what sets our congregation apart from others.

We believe that discipleship is a life-long journey, a destination that we never totally arrive at. As you engage in activities at Christ United and explore our educational resources, you will find that we categorize opportunities into four different stages. Knowing which stage you are at in your discipleship journey will help you identify which opportunities may be best for you. Check out our Education page to learn more.

The United Methodist Faith

United Methodists share a common heritage with all Christians. According to our foundational statement of beliefs found in The Book of Discipline, we share many basic affirmations in common with all Christian communities.
